About the Author
As a longtime instructor at the Art Institute of Seattle, one of the very few manufacturers or restorers of extremely high-quality hurdy-gurdies, and as a 20-year veteran as a research biologist at the University of Washington, Alden Hackmann brings a wealth of experience teaching, designing, and implementing electronics concepts in multiple real-world settings. With a passion for electronics from an early age and an affinity for a doing things well, Hackmann has even designed and implemented onboard amplification systems.

Fabulous introduction to electronics for musicians

This book is a fabulous introduction to electricity and basic electronics for musicians. It is clear and concise, with a multitude of practical, hands-on examples and projects. The author also makes a point to minimize math and to give memorable and/or musical examples to support ideas. One great example is calculating RMS via chocolate (read it to find out!). I will strongly recommend this to the students in my "Building Electronic Music Instruments" course.
