Only 18 spreads in the entire book don't feature photos of the star. Divided into seven chapters, the text covers the show Bieber was working on while the book was written, his musical background, his family and hometown, how his music videos on YouTube created his fan base, getting a manager, and becoming a star. Within that outline, he attempts to give a sense of himself, as a regular kid who likes to play jokes, loves his family and friends, and is grateful for his success and his fans. For the boy who received a Range Rover for his 16th birthday, his tantrum in the rain after failing to pass his driver's test is rather entertaining. While this book will be popular only as long as Bieber maintains his popularity, it's likely to be worn out before fans are finished with this artist. Born in Stratford, Ontario, Justin first broke into the music industry when music manager Scooter Braun spotted his performances on YouTube and then joined forces with superstar Usher to sign thirteen-year-old Justin to a record deal with Island Def Jam Music Group.

Justin's latest number 1 album, Believe, came out in June 2012. It follows his number 1 Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, which was Justin's third number 1 debut in just 18 months. This incredible achievement makes Justin the youngest artist in Billboard history to have a holiday album enter at number 1 and then first solo artist in Billboard history to chart three number 1 albums before his 18th birthday. Prior to Under the Mistletoe, Justin's first album My World 2.0 debuted at number 1 in the charts and featured the single 'Baby', which remains the number 1 most-viewed YouTube video, with currently over 700 million views. Never Say Never: The Remixes, the soundtrack to the highest domestic-grossing concert film in US history, also entered at number 1 in 2011.

The Inside Scoop for Justin Bieber fans

If you're a fan of Justin Bieber, you probably know there are already other books out there about him, including unauthorized biographies. This book, however, is designed and written with Bieber's cooperation and noted as being written "by Justin Bieber." There are some helpful tips about this book which you should know before you purchase it. If you collect anything and everything related to Bieber, you'll want to pay close attention to the part about maintaining the book's value.

1. First of all, the book contains exclusive photos and a free poster. But if you don't read the inside cover of the book (bottom right) carefully...you might spend time looking for that poster inside the book. But it turns out it is printed behind the cover. If you want to put up the poster, you have to remove the cover and pin up the poster which is on the back of the cover.

2. For those of you who get a FIRST edition of the book, you should know that removing the cover and pinning it to your wall could reduce the value of your book as a collectible. But if you don't care about that and want the poster pasted on a wall, inside a locker, etc....then go for it! Also, maybe it is just the first editions that have this issue but the front of the cover (the part with the words Justin Bieber on it, in bold purple letters) does show through to the back... but only if you are looking at it in bright light. It won't be visible when put on a wall. If you want to have a collectible copy, you might want to buy two books. Leave the cover on the (hopefully) FIRST edition and pin the poster from the second book on your wall or wherever you want it. It all depends on how much you want the book to retain its value (assuming Bieber retains his popularity).

INFO ABOUT THE CONTENTS OF THE BOOK:

1, A special DM to Bieber's fans, including info that every female fan is his "favorite girl", each for a different reason. He also lets fans know that they have a chance to connect with him on Twitter or get soaked in a water fight after a concert. The book is full-color, including photos - and there are photos on many, many pages.

2. Information about how he reached stardom, his connection with Usher and the My World Tour. He also notes that "my word got very big, very fast, and based on a lot of sad examples from the past, a lot of people expect me to get lost in it." Of course, he doesn't expect to go down that path and here's hoping he beats the odds.

3. A chapter titled "A Secret Musician" which goes into details about Justin's birth, his hometown, pride in being a Canadian and how he spent his time. Bieber opens up about his parents' divorce and how hard his parents worked to stay financially afloat. He also describes time spent with his grandparents and why Justin speaks both French and English.

4. A section called "Big Family Christmas" which focuses on all the details about how Justin spent each Christmas, with his family, including a gift exchange tradition that included rolling dice (yes, rolling dice) as a part of the gift exchange. He explains how the dice action ties into exchanging presents.

5. Another chapter about his family and how his mother made mistakes and admitted them... but changed after she went to church. Not surprisingly, Bieber notes how important God is to him.

There are also details about YouTube (of course, since Bieber reached his first fans there) and very detailed information from Bieber about how he went from YouTube to stardom...step by step. On many of the pages are actual tweets which were sent by Bieber, revealing his popularity on Twitter as well as YouTube. Of course, the book is filled with tons of photos, many noted to be exclusive. There are shots of Bieber leaping onto the stage, talking to his mother, hanging out with Usher and his manager, etc. Of course, for those fans who just want to see Justin alone, in close-up photos, there are plenty of those, including that poster. Only dedicated fans, those who search for every photo of Justin out there, are likely to know which photos in the book have never been published before.

About that poster: don't expect the poster to be huge. It is a little over 22 inches long (as best I could measure it, since it included folds and I couldn't get it completely flat). The good news about the poster? It is a life-size head shot of Justin, focusing primarily on his face but revealing a bit of his V-neck shirt or sweater as well as the gold chain around his neck. The bad news about the poster? You'll have to live with the creases that were created when it was folded around the book. You might be able to get rid of them but you'd probably damage the poster or risk tearing it to get rid of those creases. Even so, the life-sized face, showing every one of Bieber's eyelashes, freckles and distinctive hairstyle, should have fans swooning.

Good book for Bieber fans...

This was another Christmas gift for the 13 year old "Belieber" of the house. I haven't read the book, but she did in one day and she loved it. I've been learning far more about Justin Bieber than I care to know because she's been sharing all sorts of facts from the book, but overall she seemed to really enjoy it. Only complaint I had was a packing problem (dust cover was ripped/torn) when I received the book but the actual product itself is great!

This is the second book in the series and book one has to be read first!

Lance and Leila have just gotten married after the birth of their son Jase but soon they discover that trouble has followed them on their holidays. There is a group of Vampires called The Outsiders and they believe that Lance and Leila have the means of becoming human again.

As Lance forms an alliance with Xander Reed and the werewolves it is clear that they all must work together to face this new enemy and discover who is at the bottom of it.

Lance believes that to protect his family best he must become a human and Leila believes that she must become a vampire to protect her family. Will the two be able to come to an agreement before it is too late for both of them?

This book has romance, mystery and lots of para-normal! I think it's funny how Leila gets so wrapped up in sex while she is pregnant and is almost insatiable! Luckily she has a husband who is very eager to make her happy. I really enjoyed how the two both had opposite views on how they would stay safe and to be honest I couldn't see how Lance would be able to protect his family when he was a human when I saw what they were up against.

I really enjoyed all of the para-normal groups working together to protect Lance, Leila and Jase for the greater good! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book as Lance's history comes back to haunt his future!

Second in the 'Eternally Yours' book series, CROSSROADS is a brilliantly clever paranormal tale that takes a look at reversing vampirism.

Leila, a human doctor wife in love with her vampire husband Lance—who wants to be human again, does all she can to make his wish come true. She formulates a sunlight serum and with the help of friends embarks on finding a cure for vampirism. But as they draw near to a true remedy, Lance has second thoughts. Does he really want to give up eternal life for love and family?

This is a steamy-adult erotic tale that holds nothing back. The writing is superb. Vivid characters and a twisting story plot drive this colorful cast forward to an ending that immensely satisfies but leaves you wanting more. As far the vampire romance genre, this is one of the most entertaining books I’ve read in years.

I had the honour of reading this as a beta read, before anyone else had seen it and LOVED IT! It's just as good as book one, with Lance getting to tell his story, this time around.

I LOVE Lance!! He's so suave and sexy and he can say more with one look or a few words than other guys need pages to say. It doesn't hurt that Sophie's dream casting places Liam Hemsworth as Lance. I mean...swoon!

And, yes! I totally spent the entire book thinking about Liam Hemsworth as Lance. The fit is perfect. Especially in the hot, steamy scenes with Leila. I thought, with them married and baby Jace to take care of, that the heat might die down and the sex would take a back-seat to being parents and married life, but was I wrong or was I wrong? Holy Hotness!
I mean, Sophie's not afraid to pull a rabbit out the hat, when you least expect it. I thought the alley and elevator scenes in book one were hot, but the car scene and the chaise 'quickie' were HAWT!

I'm in love with the new characters, too. Adeline is interesting and I'm really curious as to how she's going to affect the story. I also heard a rumour that the Werewolf Alpha Xander will be getting his own book series. I can only say Hallelujah! I am so intrigued by his character and by the weird but interesting chemistry between him and the “should-be” Alpha Elias and their human girl Kalyssa. They could be something interesting.

But, my heart still belongs to Lance, even if it does drift, occasionally to Kellen, who is still amazing and hot, especially in his new suits. I'd love to see him get more of a story and a HEA of his own, but I don't see it being with Crissy. It just doesn't fit, for me, so I'm interested to see how his story will turn out, in the long term.

I also love how the plot picks up straight from the end of book one. There's no pretense of everything being hunky dory. We're straight in, at the wedding, and then we get a little hotness before the action starts. Of which there is plenty.

You'll also get great, kick-ass action. Intense, quick and fiery, but perfectly fitted into the plot and the characters. The action fits in with where they are, what they're doing and keeps the spice alive, in their marriage. It causes fights, arguments and resentment, guilt and all the emotions of any other character. But with these guys, it's suped up to a supernatural level.

The other amazing addition is Jace, himself. Now, as a baby, at the start of the book, he shouldn't be a big character, but he is. He's a dhampir, so his growth rate is ridiculously quick and he's talking before the end of the book. This not only makes sense, for the world Sophie has built, but it makes things interesting. Jace becomes this handful of a toddler and does all the unexpected things that kids do. He grows, learns and he's very much showing off his vampire tendencies in this story. I love that!

The really interesting thing that caught me completely by surprise, was the venture into Lance's past, with flashbacks. I loved seeing how he became a vampire, but also how it still affects him. I spent most of the book thinking that Selestra – a character from the flashback - would make an appearance. But, I'm not going to ruin the story for you, by saying whether or not she does. ;)

It was great to see the witch Raven pop up again. She's a great character and I love the depth that she can add to events and the mystery she provides. I always know that when she makes an appearance, something really bad, but really good, is going to happen.

I totally had a moment, thanks to Raven, where I sat there reading and did a fist bump, while yelling “PLOT TWIST!” in excitement.

About the Author
Justin Solomon is an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton's Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics, where he is studying problems in shape analysis, machine learning, and graphics from a geometric perspective. He received a PhD in computer science from Stanford University, where he was also a lecturer for courses in graphics, differential geometry, and numerical methods. Before his graduate studies, he was a member of Pixar's Tools Research group.

I think it's one of best "advanced introduction" books on numerical methods

I have read this book before it was publish because I was a student in Justin's class in Stanford. I think it's one of best "advanced introduction" books on numerical methods. It's clear, it's contemporary, there are a lot of excellent example in graphics, machine learning and other areas, also after each chapter there are interesting exercises from easy ones to open-ending hard problems.

I think the main "plus" of the book that it's gave intuition to reader for many hard problems such as optimization problem, least-squares problems, iterative methods and so on.

Also, in my opinion, linear algebra and it's applications, optimization, non-linear problems are considered in more details than differential equation, giving only intuition and some insights for last topic.

In summary: excellent book on numeric methods for all CS students. I think it's will be very good to read this book before studying machine learning and it's applications and variations.

Wonderful overview

My opinions of this book may be slightly colored by the fact that I was previously a TA for his course. Nonetheless, I think Justin's book is one of the best introductions to "Methods for Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Graphics" around. It manages to cover a broad range of foundational topics typically covered in their own full-semester courses, such as numerical linear algebra, scientific computing, optimization, and numerical ODEs/PDEs. One of the strengths of the book is that it presents a well-written, holistic overview of these areas with many practical examples and exercises. Another strength is that it uses the language of optimization to frame many of the problems in the later chapters. For those familiar with Stephen Boyd's book on Convex Optimization, I found the overall style to be similar in terms of the balance between theory and practice. I wish I had read this book before all of my PhD coursework--alas, it hadn't been written yet.

Please make sure to consult the errata for the first edition; there were a few typos that came up during the course. I don't believe they detract from the exposition however.

Error anaylsis, linear algebra, optimization: this book covers all the fundamentals for anyone interested in computational science and applications. The book is clear, well written, with plenty of examples. Highly recommended for students, teachers, and practitioners.

Simon Critchley is Hans Jonas Professor of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York. Who is Ever Certain who Isn’t Self-Deceived?

I greatly appreciate Professor Critchley’s efforts to address this very antagonistic and emotionally laden subject in a rigorous and rational philosophical manner.

From an eerie and personal perspective there is page 71. Professor Critchley describes his reaction to the death of his father. This was a thunder strike for me in that I had the same experience with the death of my mother only days prior to reading this essay! The timing, the ending, the description of the death scene and the perspective, were all the same, a remarkable parallel with my own experience. The impressions of the death scene that I witnessed of my mother were the same as those Professor Critchley describes as having experienced with his father. I read this description, I closed the book in disbelief and walked away, came back again; read it again; it was the same again. The book is poignant for me in knowing that author and I share a remarkably, and uncannily similar experience with the death of a parent.

The only minor disappointment in this otherwise thoughtful essay on suicide occurred on p. 58. It is hear that I suppose professor Critchley could not help himself as he condescended to enter the fractious debate about gun control in the U.S. I found his comments on the subject to be incongruous with the subject of the essay as well as rather pedestrian and banal, unworthy of his otherwise subtle yet penetrating mind. The comments struck me as a kind of cheap shot or jab into an otherwise contentious complex public policy debate. The NRA provides an all too easy target and the issue is much more complex than the lobbying strength of the NRA. A deeper question is why the NRA has such strong support and what this tells us about our society, it is a symptom, not a cause. I find myself conflicted on the subject of gun control. I have no desire to live in a society where everyone feels the need to own a gun but then again, I have no desire to deprive otherwise responsible and law abiding citizens of the right to bear arms. I like having the freedom to own a gun and deciding not to own one.

I do not necessarily disagree with Professor Crtichley’s sentiments on this issue of gun control, I was only disappointed to see the disturbing problem of homicidal rampages reduced to a curt comment about the NRA’s lobbying strength and the obtuse nature of the U.S. Congress. As a philosopher whom I hold in high regard, I was disappointed in Professor Critchley’s otherwise simple and all too easy comments on this subject, such comments are devoid of the philosophical rigor so characteristic of his work. Such borderline ideological comments are the stuff of the crude and crass debates that can be found in common media outlets of various political flavor, not in a philosophical essay.

Professor Critchley aptly describes suicide as a weapon in our hands, much like a gun I ask? I feel that I have a right to own this weapon as well. I like having the freedom to commit suicide and deciding not to do it, at least for today. Tomorrow, I must again decide. This is a daily assessment that I must make and it comes with a maddening uncertainty each day but then, who is ever certain who isn’t self-deceived? The uncertainty is maddening, yes, but certainty only leads to paralysis of thought that would have us labor under the burden of self-deception. So I must still ask, is today a good day to live, and if so why? What are my reasons? Do I have a compelling reason for ending my life today or for continuing to live? Do I have a raison d’ etre in either case more than just the banality of life or is that enough in either case?

Serious Book on a Serious Subject

A somber,extremely well written on the sensitive subject of suicide. Not one of those cheery "You have so much to live for !" books nor is it a cliche ridden "Suicide is not a solution to your problems." Instead a balanced examination on the subject of suicide. Respects the reader enough to avoid all those tired tropes about not committing suicide. Very thought provoking, this book will stick with you.

Tsung Hwa Jou has a rare gift for explaining the most complicated and complex matters with simple words and allegories. He literally paints high-contrast pictures with his words building a bridge between Chinese and Western culture.

A down-to-earth-how-to guide to understanding and mastering the principles of meditation, regardless tecnique but with emphasis on Chinese meditation styles.

Probably the best book on Taoism & Meditation for beginners.

This is surely one of the best books on Enlightenment, Taoism and Meditation for the beginner that I have ever seen. Although, don't get me wrong, it is a must for anyone interested in these subjects. It gives many new insights, all with a clear explanation. The author gives out the goods on enlightenment and why meditation is so important. He describes the subject with a westerner's scientific point of view and equates enlightenment as the understanding of Reality Without Time (to see as a fourth dimensional being can see). To perceive all time in one moment. He gives the reasons why meditation is the best vehicle to understanding and spells everything out with sound logic. There is a thorough guide to meditation, with basic instructions on Chi Kung exercises, transfer of Ching to Chi (Lien Ching Hwa Chi), transfer of Chi to Shen (Lien Chi Hwa Shen) and Proceed from Shen to Void (Lien Shen Hwan Shiu). This book is truly full of many grand arguments, wise sayings, stories and is a vast source of inspiration. I highly recommend it.

This book was delayed for a few weeks to allow us to incorporate detailed information on the changes made to the camera's menu system and extra features added by the firmware updates 2.0 and 3.0. It provides information on all the camera's features, including the brand new ones introduced during the October 2014 and February 2015 camera updates.

About the Author
Darrell Young (aka Digital Darrell) is a full-time author and professional photographer in the East Tennessee, USA area. He is a member of Professional Photographers of America, the North American Nature Photography Association, and Nikon Professional Services--and adheres to the ethical guidelines of those fine organizations. Darrell has been photographing people, events, and places professionally for over 30 years, with a special interest in natural history.

His mother gave him a Brownie Hawkeye camera in 1968 at the young age of 10 years and awakened a lifelong interest in capturing slices of time. Living in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains--near Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway--has given him a real concern for the natural environment and a deep interest in nature photography. You'll often find Darrell standing behind a tripod in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina.

Since about 2000 Darrell has been an active blogger and article writer on photographic subjects. In 2008 his first photography book was published and, since then, he has authored over a dozen books on the technical side of photography, with a special interest in helping new photographers fully understand their complex cameras so they can use them for more effective and enjoyable photography.

Highly recommend this book!

I am fairly familiar with my EM-1 which I have owned for over a year now. I have read a number of other instructional manuals for other cameras over the years. After being one of the first people to purchase Darrell's "Mastering the Olympus OM-D EM-1" I have had some time to scan through a good portion of the book and focused on several specific things I wanted to learn more about - like HDR and IS settings for manual lenses. Without a doubt the information provided in this book will take me to a whole new level in understanding the myriad of capabilities of this awesome mirror-less camera. Darrell not only identifies "how" to navigate the various menu functions and operate the various buttons but he also explains "why" and provides recommendations for settings that might be most beneficial. The method of portraying all of this information is laid out in a very logical format that is easy to follow and understand in layman's terms. I bought the e-version PDF file so it is easy for me to search on specific things and keep clicking where the word pops up to capture everything about it. I pre-ordered the paperback version too.

I am just scratching the surface for what I have had time to read but after scanning through it I'm very anxious to absorb as much of this as possible. I also ride motorcycles and have for years. I know all the mechanical and operational aspects of my motorcycles so I can enjoy my rides by paying attention to traffic and scenery without stumbling over the controls. I want to be able to operate my EM-1 just the same way so I can visualize and plan my pictures without fumbling around with the operation of the camera. I also own an EM-5 so a lot of what is included in this book will apply to the operation of that camera too. Although this is just a hobby for me I've always believed that investing in the best equipment and taking time to learn all about it will result in the best outcomes. We can all improve no matter what level of photographer we are - and anyone reading this book will definitely improve in their photographic capabilities with the EM-1.

Excellent guide book--for the Newbie and for the Semi-Pro

I've been making pictures for going on thirty years with Canons, Nikons, and Contaxs, images good enough to have sold many large prints and had hundreds published in books and magazines. But the Oly menu system is complicated and like learning a new language. As well, this camera has a myriad of overlapping and confusing settings and capabilities. I used a couple of excellent on-line sites to get some basic settings and to get questions answered, but still felt as if I were just brushing the surface and not getting explanations about why this setting rather than that setting nor expanding my use of unfamiliar tools. This book has gone a very long way in expanding my understanding and daily use of the EM1. It is an especially well-written book, loaded with suggestions for optimal settings, and truly comprehensive. And the author's love of this camera comes through loud and clear. My bookshelves are sagging from all the photography books I own--among the dozen or so manuals, this may be the best. Highly recommended for anyone who owns and wants to fulfill the potential of this complicated camera.

Best 'Mastering' book for a camera I've read - and this is a camera that has a lot of subtle capabilities

I am a Nikon (land based) photographer and have seen, skimmed and purchased a number of books on camera operation thru the years. Manuals that come with these fabulous cameras are woefully inadequate, sometimes they are worse than no manual. This is my first Olympus camera and I plan to use it underwater. Darrell Young's book Mastering the OM-D E-M1 stands out from the crowd in its comprehensiveness and clarity.

To get the value from this camera one must learn how to configure it for easy access to its capabilities without using the touch screen! I am a pretty advanced camera user ( highly skilled but not professional) and can usually pick up a camera and figure out most of the basic stuff without much challenge. Same for this camera, however to use the camera for my intent requires accessing the advanced features, configuring buttons and levers, all without using the touch screen. Thanks to this book I've shortened my learning curve and then some. This book has exceeded my expectations! One other note - rather than re-state the things that ARE in the manual, this book (e version) provides links to the appropriate tables and content
